It’s the best time of year to be on the water. A mile and a half away from Valo, the Tidal Basin offers plenty of activities to take advantage of. One of the best ways to enjoy the warm weather is to cruise on the Tidal Basin Paddle Boats. They’ve been a popular activity for DC residents and tourists since the late 1930s, and for good reason. Today, the boats provide visitors with unique views of the Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr. memorials. With the option of a two or four person boat, you can gather a few friends to soak up some rays and make monumental memories on the water. Thousands of blooming cherry blossom trees currently surround the basin, which is truly a sight to see when you can catch them in full bloom .
The East Potomac Golf Course is an expansive golf course conveniently located across the Washington Channel on Hains Point Island, about an 8-minute drive away from Valo. The course is home to the nation’s first cherry blossoms, and seeing the blooms on the course this time of year is a truly magical experience.
East Potomac contains a 9-hole course and an 18-hole course, along with a family course, a driving range and practice holes. There’s even a FootGolf course that combines soccer and golf into one activity. The best part? You can chow down before or after a day on the greens at the Potomac Grill, where you can enjoy breakfast classics or mouth-watering burgers.
